Towns of North Attleboro, Plainville and Wrentham Welcome Scott Smith as Veterans Agent

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH/PLAINVILLE/WRENTHAM, MA— North Attleborough Town Manager Michael Borg, Plainville Town Administrator Brian Noble and Wrentham Town Manager Kevin Sweet are pleased to welcome Scott Smith as the towns’ new veterans agent.

Smith was confirmed by the North Attleborough Town Council on Monday, Aug. 12, and began his new role on Tuesday, Aug. 13. In this role, he will oversee veterans’ services for the Towns of North Attleborough, Plainville and Wrentham.


Smith served in the Marine Corps for 30 years before retiring from active duty in 2013 as a Sergeant Major. During his enlistment, he held numerous leadership and instructor positions while assigned to the support and operating forces.
In the Marine Forces Pacific, he managed 800 personnel within 20 subordinate units, dispersed among 15 different geographical locations across the Pacific region and monitored the enlisted performance evaluation system. Following his time in the Marine Forces Pacific, Smith joined the Joint Task Force in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He also served in Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Australia, Thailand, Guam, Wake Island, Mongolia, Iraq, Afghanistan and more.
Upon his retirement, Smith most recently served as the Marine Instructor for the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (MCJROTC) at Tolman High School, Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Hawai’i Pacific University and is a graduate of the Keystone Leadership Course from the National Defense University.
