In an effort to improve pedestrian access in the downtown area, a new crosswalk sign has been installed in front of Town Hall on South Street. The new sign features a pedestrian detector designed by Migma Systems, Inc. of Walpole, Mass. When a pedestrian approaches the crosswalk, the detector activates a sensor and starts a flashing light to alert motorists. A solar panel keeps the sign charged. Wrentham Highway Division Manager, Ron Lilja, coordinated the sign installation on a trial basis. According to Mr. Lilja, if the feedback is positive, the Town can move forward to purchase the system.
