WRENTHAM — Town Administrator Kevin Sweet reports that the Town of Wrentham is in the early stages of completing a Transition Plan to be more compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Transition Plan will evaluate areas where the town needs to make improvements in ADA accessibility and awareness.
To assist in the planning process, the town has contracted with Newton-based KMA Architecture + Accessibility, a leader in ADA compliance planning, who will conduct an assessment of town programs and services.
As a first step, KMA has put together a survey to allow residents to give input on their experiences with ADA accessibility in town. All residents are encouraged to answer the brief five-question survey.

“This plan will benefit each and every resident of town as well as those visiting from other communities, and we value the input of the public as part of the planning process,” Town Administrator Sweet said.
Four of the five questions in the survey are in yes-or-no format, with space for additional comments. They include:
- Are there Town buildings/facilities (building structures, parks, playgrounds, trails, docks, recycling centers, etc.) that you have had difficulty using?
- Have you ever had difficulty getting information about a Town program, service or event?
- Do you know how to request Town materials in alternate formats (for example, large print or Braille)?
- Do you know how to request an accommodation (for example, ASL interpreters or assistive listening systems) for Town services and events?
A fifth question allows residents to provide any other accessibility-related comments they may wish to share.
The survey will also be available on the town web page, and hard copies will be available at Town Hall for residents’ convenience.

The deadline to complete the survey is Wednesday, Feb. 12. All survey responses are anonymous.
In addition to the survey, town departments will complete an eight-page self-evaluation prepared by KMA. The self-evaluation will help the town identify areas that need improvement as part of the Transition Plan.
After reviewing the public survey and self-evaluation responses, KMA will generate an assessment that identifies any deficiencies and recommended solutions. This report will be released to the town as a draft for comments before being finalized.
