Residents are Encouraged to View the Recorded Service From Their Homes
WRENTHAM — Town Administrator Kevin Sweet wishes to announce that the Town of Wrentham’s 2020 Memorial Day services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25 on the Town Common.
In order to adhere to proper social distancing measures, this will be a “virtual” observance with only public officials and a select few invited guests taking part in the event.
Residents are asked to follow the “safer at home” advisory and view the ceremony on Wrentham Cable 8.
Residents may also view the ceremony from their vehicles if they park along Town Common, but are asked to not exit their vehicles.
Wrentham Cable 8 will be recording the event and will air it later Monday afternoon and in the days following. It will also be available to view on the channel’s website, wrenthamcable8.com.
As part of the observance, Town officials will be placing floral arrangements at each of the five veterans monuments on the Town Common.
“It is important to pay our respects and honor those men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country,” Town Administrator Sweet said. “However, it is also important that we keep the health and safety of our residents in mind given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We encourage all residents to view this observance from the safety of their own homes.”
“We in Wrentham have a long history of supporting our veterans, including honoring those who have lost their lives in service,” Wrentham Board of Selectmen Chair Joseph Botaish said. “Holding this year’s Memorial Day ceremony as a virtual observance will allow every member of our town to properly pay their respects while following the safer at home advisory that remains in place.”
