Wrentham Town Administrator Announces Sweatt Beach Opening and Memorial Day Parade Info

WRENTHAM — Town Administrator Kevin Sweet is pleased to announce the details for the opening of Sweatt Beach on Lake Pearl this weekend and would also like to provide residents with information about the town’s annual Memorial Day parade on Monday.

Sweatt Beach Opening for the Season

Sweatt Beach, 11 Woolford Road, will open for the season on Saturday, May 25. The public beach will be open everyday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. The beach closes for the season on Aug. 25.

Seasonal family passes are available for $175 for Wrentham residents and $200 for Plainville and Norfolk residents. Passes can be purchased at the beach.

The beach is staffed with a lifeguard during its hours of operation.

Wrentham Memorial Day Parade

Wrentham’s Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27 beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The parade will begin on South Street at Randall Road and will proceed down South Street to the Center Cemetery, where an assembly will be held at the flag pole near the veterans burial area.

The ceremony at the flag pole will include the Pledge of Allegiance, singing of the National Anthem and a recognition of local veterans. There will also be a wreath laying ceremony, the singing of “America the Beautiful” and the playing of taps.

Following the assembly at the cemetery, the parade procession will then re-form and march toward the town’s war memorial monuments before dispersing.

“We invite all residents to come and enjoy a fun-filled and memorable Memorial Day weekend here in Wrentham,” Town Administrator Sweet said. “The weather is expected to be beautiful for the beach and parade and we hope to see a great turnout.”
